The Wonders of World Book Day and Reading into Writing.

Year 2 had a super World Book Day....
Yet again we were amazed by the wild and wacky range of book character costumes! Horrid Henry was really frightful as were the snapping crocodiles..watch out Hook!

Year 2 took this opportunity to practise their Talk4Write session and very aptly there were a number of traditional tale characters who joined in enthusiastically.

The children have been learning the traditional tale of the Three Billy Goats Gruff with an alternative ending.

Talk4Write has supported their reading into writing wonderfully and the children have produced some super writing based on the idea of the Billy Goats Gruff. Although in their stories there wasn't a billy goat in sight!
Many of the children's stories contained three dragons, three blind mice, three princes or princesses and even three cute dwarfs trying to find diamonds in a mine. Miss Fortner and Mrs Davis were very proud of the effort they put into their ides and their independent writing. Well done year 2!

Time Team !

Year 2 have had a fabulous time working outdoors with one another learning about o'clock and half past the hour. We made a human clock using year 2 children and whiteboards. Israel was a marvellous minute hand and Omar was outstanding as our hour hand.

We looked at key times of the school day.

Questioning deepened the children's understanding as we made them justify their answers and solved problems using later than and earlier than.

We also looked at the placing of the clock hands for 12o'clock and the very important lunch time!

Unfortunately, it was time for lunch  so we now look forward to our next lesson using analogue time.
